Greenwich AeroGroup’s Western Aircraft and Universal Avionics have partnered to develop a technologically advanced cockpit for the Dassault Falcon 900B.

The cockpit upgrade will replace 25 older instruments significantly improving reliability, improving situational awareness and reducing downtime. The suite has five high resolution Universal EFI-890R LED backlit LCD displays, including an Engine Indication Unit that replaces analog engine instruments. The Universal UNS-1Fw Flight Management System (FMS) will provide Wide Area Augmentation System/Localizer Performance with Vertical Guidance (WAAS/SBAS/LPV) capabilities at initial certification. Other suite options include items such as Vision-1 Synthetic Vision, single or dual side charts, graphical weather, and capability for video, checklists and more.

“This is an exciting upgrade that will help operators enhance safety, reduce operational costs and prepare for the future,” said Greenwich AeroGroup’s Director of MRO Avionics Products Mark Fischer. “When combined with Universal Avionics 800 series Unilink (Communications Management Unit) system, the Flight Management Systems could assist operators in complying with upcoming datalink mandates such as FANS or Link 2000.”

Western Aircraft is expected to complete the new Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) on the Dassault Falcon 900B with certification expected in mid 2011.
