NASAM Inc., a Greenwich AeroGroup Company, announced today that Aki Sato, at the age of 72, will step down as President at the end of the year and will assume the role of Chairman.
NASAM, which was founded in 1980 by Mr. Sato, is an international distributor of high tech electronics such as military/defense equipment, spacecraft sub-system and components, aircraft support equipment and products and telecom-related components. NASAM specializes in supporting Japanese defense aircraft and aerospace programs, spacecraft and telecommunications industries. In 1985, Mr. Sato also founded Government Controlled Corporation – United States (GCCUS), which provides freight forwarding services to and from the country of Japan for defense contractors.
“Under Aki’s leadership NASAM and GCCUS have both seen tremendous growth and diversification,” said Senior Vice President for Greenwich AeroGroup Warren Persavich. “Aki’s relationship with our Japanese partners has been instrumental in creating opportunities to expand the business. He has demonstrated his skills as an entrepreneur for the past 31 years and we thank him for his dedication in making NASAM a successful company. In addition, we are very pleased that Aki has agreed to continue in an advisory role as Chairman of the Board of NASAM for the next three years.”
Persavich will assume the role of President and Chief Executive Officer of NASAM in 2012.
